About
JR
CASTILLO
Writing
about influences surrounding him such as teenage love,
family, and the journey of life, J.R. Castillo always
knew he had a passion for the singing and songwriting.
Constantly surrounded by musical influences as a child,
learning guitar form his father and having his mother
teach him harmonies.Born and raised in Green Acres,
Texas, Castillo found it easy to constantly surround
himself with musicians. From forming and fronting bands
in junior high school, to his years as a college student
at the University of Texas, he always found himself in
line with people who held the same passion and dreams as
him. To Castillo, songwriting had always been his
escape, his solace and his sanctuary. Having written
over a thousand songs today, he has only just begun. To
Castillo, there is no greater pleasure than seeing folks
tapping their feet to the beat of his tunes or dancing
around having a genuinely good time listening to his
music. In the summer of 2009. Castillo was selected to
attend Skip Ewing’s Horse & Writer Invitational
where he discovered his mentors Clay Mills, Deanna
Bryant, Kent Blazy, James Dean Hicks and Skip Ewing.
Castillo believes that this one event fast tracked his
career to where it is today. With three studio albums
under his belt and one live album, Castillo has already
made a name for himself in the country music scene. His
first single “Surviving Emily” hit Number 1 as well
as “My Own Circumstance,” Welcome to my Country,”
“Dancehall Romance,” “Party Kind of guy,” and
many more hitting several Top 10 Charts throughout the
US, Europe, Netherlands, Asia and Australia. Already
having completed a new 16-song album, Castillo is on the
fast track to building success for this record.
Averaging between 150-200 tour dates throughout the
country over the past several years, Castillo has shared
the stage with many famous country musicians such as
George Jones, Merle Haggard, Hank Jr., Garth Brooks,
Alan Jackson, Randy Rogers Band, Cross
Canadian Ragweed, Pat Green and Eli Young band. |
